DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Detroit Month of Design\, join us for an arti
 st talk by Cody Norman (CAA MFA 3D Design '20) followed by a conversation 
 with Andrew Satake Blauvelt (CAA MFA Design '88)\, Director of Cranbrook A
 rt Museum.  \n\nCody Norman is a Chicago-based artist\, designer\, and ed
 ucator. He currently serves as part-time faculty in the Sculpture and Desi
 gned Objects departments at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. N
 orman works with both digital and analog fabrication processes to transfor
 m recycled and bio plastics into functional art objects. Creating enigmati
 c forms that feel at once familiar and foreign\, Norman’s process physic
 ally blurs the line between digital and hand craft.\n\nNorman’s work i
 s represented by I.M. Weiss Gallery and his Trace Chair has recently been 
 acquired by the Cranbrook Art Museum where it is currently on view in the 
 exhibition Labyrinth/Laboratory: Selections from the Cranbrook Collection.
  His work has shown at the Edsel &amp\; Eleanor Ford House\, Chicago Botan
 ic Garden\, and Walker Art Center.\n\nThe event is free with museum admiss

DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate the launch of Fine Design: A Studio Guide
  to Remixing Design\, Art\, Craft\, and Industry\, a publication by former
  Designer-in-Residence of 3D Design\, Scott Klinker (CAA MFA Design ‘96)
 . The book is a guide to contemporary studio practice that combines instru
 ctional methods with significant student and alumni projects developed dur
 ing his years at Cranbrook Academy of Art. Scott will be joined in convers
 ation by Director of Cranbrook Art Museum\, Andrew Satake Blauvelt (CAA MF
 A Design '88)\, following the signing.  \n\nScott Klinker designs furnitu
 re\, lighting\, and spatial systems that operate at the intersection of de
 sign\, architecture\, art\, and craft. Trained as an industrial designer\,
  he approaches each project through an architectural lens\, exploring how 
 people inhabit and experience space. \n\nHe has partnered with design-dri
 ven companies\, including MillerKnoll\, Alessi\, Steelcase\, Landscape For
 ms\, and Burton Snowboards. His industry projects have received numerous p
 rofessional awards\, while his limited-edition works are represented by Pl
 ayground Detroit. \n\nKlinker earned an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art
  and has held professional positions at IDEO in Palo Alto and Sony Ericsso
 n. Before returning to Cranbrook\, he taught design for two years in Japan
  at the Kanazawa International Design Institute. His studio is based in Me
 tro Detroit\, Michigan. \n\nThe book signing will begin at 6pm\, and the

DESCRIPTION:The kids shouldn’t get to have all the fun\; let’s have our
  own Art Camp for Adults!\nThis three-day workshop series will focus on di
 fferent forms of printmaking\, including silk-screening\, gel plate monoty
 pes\, foam linocuts\, and architectural stamping. Campers will find inspir
 ation during interactive field trips to the museum galleries and vault. Th
 is camp will be all about creativity\, experimentation\, and fun!\nPlease 
 wear art-friendly clothes and bring a packed lunch for our camp picnics at
  the Triton Pools. No experience is necessary\, and all art-making materia
 ls will be provided. Space is limited\; advance registration is required.\
