Artists otodojo and Detroit Bureau of Sound will collaborate with Cranbrook Academy of Art’s 4D department to present a projection-mapped piece paired with a musical performance.

Drain will occur outdoors, audiences are welcome to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets and should be prepared for fall chilly weather.

Detroit Bureau of Sound, aka Zac Bru, is a techno/experimental music composer and strange music evangelist. Fond of  avant garde music and loud PA systems, Zac’s work is an ongoing fascination with creating 4D sound sculptures, most often with modular synths and amplified plant materials. DBS’s work in experimental music has become synonymous with the traditions of great experimental composers of the 20th Century such as John Cage, Pauline Oliveros, Iannis Xenakis, alongside the development of the futuristic electronica known as ‘techno’ hailing from Detroit.

Otodojo (marokariya.info) is an audiovisual artist who explores sensing within the natural world, reflections of its change, and presence. With 11 album releases and several digital art collections under their belt, they are approaching a sound and vision for interpreting environments they visit and embodying the translation of ‘otodojo’ [a sound place for learning]. They have shown works with Artists for Plants (2021), The Soil Factory (2021), RED° Tokyo Tower (2022), and digital platforms, including a community built with Ryu Goto, Otodojo Nodes (2022). Their sound work has been released on various labels and acclaimed by Resident Advisor.
