Join us for Warm Up, a series of Free Third Thursday art-making activities, as we spring out of winter. Each event has a unique artmaking experience that will get you in the spirit of revival!
April art-making will explore watercolor painting techniques, taking inspiration from nature, from both supplies and subject matter! All materials will be provided. This drop-in activity will have several options, but may require waiting for workspace to try them all.
You can also head over to Cranbrook Institute of Science for free admission between 5pm and 8pm! Complementing the CAM theme of Watercolors, CIS will offer one hands on science-based activity about Water, and another about Colors.
The Water We Don’t See — What happens to the water that soaks into the ground? Follow its journey with our groundwater simulator and see how fluctuating water levels – and even small amounts of pollution – affect both this hidden part of the world and our own.
Color Mixing with Light – Most people have tried mixing colors with paint, but what about with light? Experiment to see the surprising results! Guests can also make their own Diffraction Monocle to take home.
Free Third Thursdays is a program sponsored by the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan.
