BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH., May 8, 2017 – On May 12, Cranbrook Art Museum will open a new exhibition, Cranbrook: A New Domestic Landscape, which features contemporary furniture and furnishings by recent alumni and Artists-in-Residence of Cranbrook Academy of Art. The work challenges conventions of use, explores new materials and techniques, and blurs the boundaries between art, craft, and design. The exhibition will run from May 12, 2017 through January 14, 2018.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH., March 21, 2017 --The 2017 Graduate Degree Exhibition of Cranbrook Academy of Art opens to the public on April 23 and will showcase work from more than 60 graduating Cranbrook Academy of Art students. Featuring pieces that are the culmination of two years of studio work from a diverse group of students, visitors will see firsthand what it takes to become tomorrow’s creative leaders. The exhibition will run from April 23 through May 14, 2017, at Cranbrook Art Museum.
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH., March 15, 2017 – Cranbrook Art Museum is pleased to announce the upcoming opening of our new exhibition, Finland 100: The Cranbrook Connection, which recognizes Finland’s centennial of independence and examines the profound influence this country has had on the development of the arts in America. The exhibition opens March 21 and runs through January 14, 2018.
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH., Feb. 15, 2017 -- This summer, The Truth Booth set out on a tour of 11 locations in metro Detroit and Flint, giving more than 1,000 residents the opportunity to record a statement starting with the words, “The Truth Is…” The result is a 48-minute film showcasing local residents’ private hopes, desires and concerns.
This film is currently on display at Cranbrook Art Museum, but this week, will also be shown in some of the neighborhoods where the testimonials were recorded.
On Thursday, February 16, it will debut at the Arab American National Museum (AANM) in Dearborn, Michigan, where it will air continually during museum hours from February 16 through March 1.

Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Aug. 30, 2016 — On September 18, Cranbrook Art Museum will open its latest exhibition, Unsettled: The Work of Edward Gorey, on view in the Museum’s deSalle Gallery through March 12, 2017. The exhibition is a collaboration between Cranbrook Art Museum and the Cranbrook Academy of Art Library.Gorey is known for his masterful pen-and-ink drawings that illustrate his captivating books, conjuring a vaguely Edwardian world of handcars, boater hats, and Dickensian children.The exhibition at Cranbrook Art Museum will feature many of Gorey’s classic texts as well as his experiments with the physical structure of the book—split-pages, doubled-books, accordion formats, postcard sets, and miniature books.

The Truth Booth is a portable, inflatable video recording studio in the shape of a giant speech bubble. A Cause Collective project by artists Ryan Alexiev, Jim Ricks, Will Sylvester and Hank Willis Thomas, its interior is equipped to compile video responses by hundreds of people from different cultural backgrounds as they complete the sentence: “The Truth Is…”
