DESCRIPTION:Throughout the run of the landmark exhibition Skilled Labor: Bl
 ack Realism in Detroit\, Cranbrook Art Museum hosts artist-led tours for s
 mall groups. These tours will be led by artists included in the exhibition
  and have been paired together based on connections to each other and thei
 r work. The tours will be informal discussions about the artwork and this 
 community of Detroit artists. \n\nSenghor Reid\, the Artist-In-Residence 
 at Cranbrook Schools and Jamea Richmond-Edwards are each known for their b
 rightly rendered large-scale paintings that make use of rich symbolism. 
   \n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSenghor Reid lives in Bloomfield Hills\, Michigan and h
 as a studio in Detroit\, where he was born and raised. He graduated from U
 niversity of Michigan (BFA\, 1999)\, Wayne State University (Master of Art
 s in Teaching (MAT)\,)\, Detroit\, and attended the Marathon Program at th
 e New York Studio School of Drawing\, Painting\, and Sculpture. \n\nReid 
 explores the interactions between the human body and the environment\, cre
 ating visual representations of dreams\, memories\, and traces of human co
 ntact with nature. \n\nReid is an artist-in-residence at Cranbrook School
 s in Bloomfield Hills\, Michigan and is a national board-certified visual 
 arts educator. He has received many awards including\, a Kresge Visual Art
 ist Fellowship in 2009 and the prestigious Governor’s Award for Emerging
  Artists in Michigan in 2001. Reid’s work has been exhibited in the Unit
 ed States and abroad in galleries and museums including\, the Museum of Co
 ntemporary Art Detroit\; Kentler International Drawing Space\, New York\; 
 St. Catharine Museum\, Canada\; and the Schomburg Center for Research in B
 lack Culture at the New York Public Library. His work is in numerous priva
 te\, public\, and corporate art collections. \n\n&nbsp\;\n\nJamea Richmon
 d-Edwards lives and works in Detroit\, where she was born and raised. She 
 studied painting and drawing at Jackson State University (BFA\,2004) and g
 raduated from Howard University (MFA\, 2012).   \n\nAn interdisciplinar
 y artist\, she creates paintings\, monumentally scaled assemblages\, and i
 mmersive installations. While utilizing imagination\, mythos\, and creativ
 ity\, she also draws inspiration from her childhood\, growing up during th
 e crack and AIDS epidemics\, as well as from the hip-hop fashion aesthetic
 s from her youth. \n\nRichmond-Edwards has exhibited at the Delaware Art 
 Museum\, Wilmington\; the California African American Museum\, Los Angeles
 \; the Charles Wright Museum of African American History\, Detroit\; and K
 ravets/Wehby Gallery\, New York. She is a 2018 recipient of a Joan Mitchel
 l Foundation Painters &amp\; Sculptors Grant. Richmond-Edwards recently re
 turned to Detroit from Maryland. \n\n&nbsp\;\n\n[gravityform id="62" titl
