SUMMARY:Artist Talk: The Cuban Contemporary Lens
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the first artist talk about our summer exhibitions 
 on July 13\, 2024 at 3:00pm! (Note: this lecture was previously scheduled 
 for June 15 but has been moved to a new date)\n\nThis special artist talk 
 will feature Marco Castillo and other Cuban artists featured in the exhibi
 tion series: A Modernist Regime: The Contemporary Cuban Lens. The conversa
 tion will be moderated by co-curators Laura Mott and Abel González Ferná
 ndez. The talk is free with museum admission.\n\nA Modernist Regime: The C
 ontemporary Cuban Lens\, features two complementary exhibitions. Marco Cas
 tillo: The Hands of the Collector is a solo exhibition featuring work by t
 he artist and prolific collector of Cuban mid-century design that he initi
 ally started to amass while part of the artist collective Los Carpinteros 
 (1992–2018). Cuba Dispersa (Cuba Dispersed) features six artists and de
 signers responding to the current conditions in Cuba as a creative class l
