DESCRIPTION:Join us for a screening of short films and documentaries explor
 ing Turin\, Italy\, the home of Arte Povera. Screened as part of our summe
 r series providing context on artistic processes and materials\, cultural 
 climates\, and periods of economic collapse examined in Landlord Colors.\n
 \nWe'll be screening the following:\n\n 	"Arte Povera: a film by Beatrice 
 Merz and Sergio Ariotti\," 2000 (28 min)\, presented in conjunction with A
 rtecinema. A documentary that gives an overview of the Arte Povera movemen
 t\, beginning with its rise in the late 1960s through the present day. Thr
 ough a presentation of archival materials from significant exhibitions—s
 uch as the 1968 exhibition Arte Povera + Azioni Povere in Amalfi and the 1
 997 Venice Biennale\, footage from recent solo exhibitions\, and clips fro
 m interviews with Arte Povera founding member and art historian Germano Ce
 lant\, as well as other artists\, critics\, and gallery directors—the fi
 lm depicts the movement’s complexity and significance.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n 	"
 Jannis Kounellis: Gray is the color of our time\," (21 min) presented in c
 onjunction with Louisiana Channel. Take a look behind Greek artist Jannis 
 Kounellis’ raw and powerful work: “There’s no distance between me an
 d the dialogue established years ago\, which sees man as the centre. That
 ’s what compels me to create art all the time\, every day.”\n\n&nbsp\;
 \n\n 	"Mario Merz – Igloos" by Gabriele Raimondi\, 2018 (24 min) present
 ed in conjunction with Artecinema. A documentary about seminal Arte Povera
  artist Mario Merz created during the preparations for his recent exhibiti
 on at Pirelli Hangar Bicocca in Milan. Curated by Vicente Todolí and real
 ized in collaboration with Fondazione Merz\, the exhibition brought togeth
 er thirty-one igloos\, from his first Igloo di Giap (1968) to Spostamenti 
 della terra e della luna su un asse (2003)\, created the year of his death
 . Set against the backdrop of Turin in the late 1960s\, the documentary tr
 aces the history of the igloo in Merz’s work.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nArtecinema\,
  an international film festival of documentaries regarding contemporary ar
 t\, was established in 1996 with the objective of making various facets of
