DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate the launch of Fine Design: A Studio Guide
  to Remixing Design\, Art\, Craft\, and Industry\, a publication by former
  Artist-in-Residence of 3D Design\, Scott Klinker (CAA MFA Design ‘96). 
 The book is a guide to contemporary studio practice that combines instruct
 ional methods with significant student and alumni projects developed durin
 g his years at Cranbrook Academy of Art. Scott will be joined in conversat
 ion by Director of Cranbrook Art Museum\, Andrew Satake Blauvelt (CAA MFA 
 Design '88)\, following the signing.  \n\nScott Klinker designs furniture
 \, lighting\, and spatial systems that operate at the intersection of desi
 gn\, architecture\, art\, and craft. Trained as an industrial designer\, h
 e approaches each project through an architectural lens\, exploring how pe
 ople inhabit and experience space. \n\nHe has partnered with design-drive
 n companies\, including MillerKnoll\, Alessi\, Steelcase\, Landscape Forms
 \, and Burton Snowboards. His industry projects have received numerous pro
 fessional awards\, while his limited-edition works are represented by Play
 ground Detroit. \n\nKlinker earned an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art a
 nd has held professional positions at IDEO in Palo Alto and Sony Ericsson.
  Before returning to Cranbrook\, he taught design for two years in Japan a
 t the Kanazawa International Design Institute. His studio is based in Metr
 o Detroit\, Michigan. \n\nThe book signing will begin at 6pm\, and the co
 nversation will follow at 6:30pm. This event is free with museum admission
