DESCRIPTION:Every third Thursday\, from July 2023 through June 2024\, visit
 ors can receive free admission to Cranbrook Art Museum from 11am–8pm AND
  Cranbrook Institute of Science from 5–8pm. Cranbrook Art Museum remains
  free on all remaining Thursdays of each month. Visitors are requested to 
 register in advance to visit Cranbrook Institute of Science via their webs

 dition! Explore and experience art and design through hands-on\, minds-on 
 activities.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAt Cranbrook Art Museum 6:30pm to 8pm:\n\nBotani
 cal Watercolors Demo with Kayla Powers \n\n Join us for a demonstration 
 by place-based artist Kayla Powers (CAA MFA Fiber 2023) on the process of 
 making watercolor paints with locally grown and foraged plants. Hear about
  Kayla’s practice from sustainable foraging and extracting color from dy
 e plants to creating pigment and making paint. Participants will test arti
 st-made botanical paints and create their own postcards featuring six wate
 rcolors made from local plants.  \n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAt Cranbrook Institute of
  Science 5 to 8pm:\nPlants Close Up\nHave you looked\, REALLY looked\, at 
 plants up close?  Explore fresh roots\, stems\, flowers\, and leaves with
  hand lenses and microscopes for a whole new perspective on their structur
 e and complexity.\nLeaf Chromatography\nIn the fall\, changes in daylight 
 and temperature trigger leaf colors to change.  Experiment with chromatog
 raphy to investigate the sometimes-hidden pigments in fall leaves.\n&nbsp\
