Each event ha s a unique artmaking experience that will get you in the spirit of revival ! As plants begin to grow again\, new seedlings sprout from the ground\, a nd hibernating animals awaken\, awaken your creativity with sketching\, pa inting\, and printing all inspired by the arrival of spring! April artmaki ng will focus on different watercolor techniques and May will explore expe rimental monoprinting. Each event in this series will take inspiration fro m nature\, from both supplies and subject matter! \n\nTo kick off the ser ies\, on March 21 we’ll explore illustrating from still life with a vari ety of materials and techniques all materials will be provided. This drop- in activity will have several options\, but may require waiting for worksp ace to open up to try them all.  \n\nYou can also head over to Cranbrook Institute of Science for free admission between 5pm and 8pm! In the March edition of Third Thursday\, CIS will complement CAM’s look at botanical illustration with focus on scientific naturalist Maria Merian\, and an inv estigation of evergreen trees.\n\nMaria Sibylla Merian was a groundbreakin g seventeenth-century German entomologist and scientific illustrator. Unli ke her contemporaries that relied on dried specimens\, Marian wanted to dr aw from life\, greatly expanding scientific understanding of these creatur es.
