DESCRIPTION:Join art historian Deborah Lubera Kawsky to explore the inspiri
 ng life and art of Artis Lane\, who studied Painting at Cranbrook Academy 
 of Art in 1951 and was presented with an honorary MFA in 2021.\n\nLane’s
  career\, which spans more than seven decades\, encompasses a wide range o
 f media and themes\, including painted and sculpted portraits\, boldly col
 ored figurative paintings\, and large-scale bronze sculptures on metaphysi
 cal topics. Lane’s work can be found in private and public collections\,
  including the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center and the Smithsonian Institution
 \, which recently loaned Lane’s bust of her friend Rosa Parks to the Whi
 te House for display in the Oval Office. Lane was the subject of a retrosp
 ective at the California African American Museum in 2007.\n\nFree admissio
