 rships may also be purchased at the door.\n\nThis June Cranbrook Art Museu
 m debuts its most ambitious project to date\, Landlord Colors: On Art\, E
 conomy\, and Materiality. Part landmark exhibition and part epic public ar
 t series\, the project features more than 60 artists from five internation
 al contemporary art scenes that have experienced economic and social uphea
 val.\n\nLandlord Colors explores cross-cultural themes of artistic ingenu
 ity and resistance in the face of societal challenges examined through the
  materiality of the artists’ work.\n\nThe exhibition will spotlight Detr
 oit since the 1967 Rebellion alongside four additional art scenes: the Ita
 lian avant-garde during the domestic conflicts of the1960s-1980s\, includi
 ng the arte povera movement\; authoritarian-ruled South Korea of the 197
 0s and its aftermath\, including the dansaekhwa movement\; embargoed Cub
 a from the 1990s to the present day\; and contemporary Greece following th
 e financial crisis of 2008.\n\nLandlord Colors extends beyond the museum
 ’s galleries to engage the city of Detroit through newly commissioned ar
 t installations\, special performances\, and conversations through its pub
 lic programming project\, Material Detroit.
