DESCRIPTION:“The Art of Critical Theory (II): Questions of Measure”\n\n
 Dr. Michael Stone-Richards is this year’s Visiting Scholar in the Critic
 al Studies Program at Cranbrook Academy of Art. He is a Professor of Criti
 cal Theory and Visual Studies at the College for Creative Studies\, Detroi
 t.\n\nMichael is most recently the recipient of a Warhol Foundation Grant 
 for his book in progress\, Care of the City: Ruination\, Abandonment\, and
  Hospitality in Contemporary Practice (forthcoming Sternberg Press).\n\nHe
  has lectured widely in critical theory\, art writing\, and cultural histo
 ry\, with essays forthcoming on McArthur Binion\, black labor and the avan
 t-garde\, biopolitics\, and the problem of attention in cultural conflict.
  He is also at work on a translation of the hermetic poems of André Breto
 n.\n\nWith artist Addie Langford\, Michael curates the open conversation s
 eries the Alexandrine Street Seminars. With Addie Langford\, he is also th
 e co-founder of Detroit Research (which won a Knight Foundation Grant) of 
 which he is also the founding editor.\n\nLectures are free and open to the
