 \n\nJon Kessler's Life and Art\n\nDrawing on 40 years of work\, Kessler wi
 ll present past and present sculptures and installations\, showing consist
 ent themes expressed in different forms.\n\nRegister for the in-person lec
 ture using the form below or watch online.\n\nBorn in 1957 in Yonkers\, NY
 \, Jon Kessler is an artist best known for his kinetic sculptures made wit
 h motors\, surveillance cameras and found objects. He has been showing his
  work regularly in the U.S. and abroad since his first exhibition at Artis
 t’s Space in 1983.\n\nIn 2005 his immersive installation “The Palace a
 t 4 AM” was exhibited at MoMA/PS1 and traveled to the Louisiana Museum (
 Copenhagen) and ZKM (Karlsruhe) and is permanently installed at the Phoeni
 x Kulturstiftung/Sammlung Falckenberg (Hamburg).\n\nHis newest sculptures 
 are “balancing acts” that slowly move with wind and viewer interaction
 . Bronze\, brass\, ceramics\, stainless steel\, and found porcelain figuri
 nes combine to form works which comment on ecological collapse and environ
 mental precariousness.\n\nRecent activity includes the 2017 Whitney Bienni
 al (New York)\, “L’Ennemi de Mon Ennemi” at the Palais de Tokyo (Par
 is)\, and the Guangzhou Triennal\, (Guangzhou). He is a Professor of Art a
 t Columbia University where he has taught since 1994 and received his BF
 A from SUNY Purchase in 1980.\n\n&nbsp\;
