DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with Maya Stovall’s solo exhibition at Cranbro
 ok Art Museum\, Liquor Store Theatre Performance Films\, the Art Museum wi
 ll host the artist’s public defense for her PhD in Cultural Anthropology
  from Wayne State University. The Liquor Store Theatre project is the focu
 s of her dissertation. Stovall will discuss her theoretical framework and 
 strategy of working across the disciplines of dance\, theory\, anthropolog
 y\, ethnography\, and contemporary art.\n\nThis event is organized in part
 nership with the Wayne State University Department of Anthropology.\nThe l
 ecture is free with Museum admission.
