The Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research and the State Historic Preservation Office invite the public to a free lecture series and debut of the book, Michigan Modern: Design that Shaped America. The Preserving Michigan Modern lectures will alternate locations between Cranbrook Institute of Science and Cranbrook Art Museum on Sundays, October 16, 2016, through November 6, 2016, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.

The lectures will be introduced each Sunday by Gregory Wittkopp, Director of the Center for Collections and Research, and Brian Conway, State Historic Preservation Officer, each of whom have essays in the publication. Cranbrook’s Head Archivist, Leslie Edwards, also contributed to the book and is one of the many notable Preserving Michigan Modern speakers.

Each lecture will cover the designers and landmarks of Michigan Modernism, the archives that preserve these modernist legacies, and the physical architectural preservation of these landmarks.
