Join us this summer for an intimate, VIP day trip — limited to just 20 guests — and be among the first to experience the new MillerKnoll Archives, opening to the public for the very first time.

Your exclusive journey includes:

  • Private, behind-the-scenes tours of:
    • The MillerKnoll Archives — the new space on the campus of the company’s Design Yard that houses the combined archives of Herman Miller, Knoll, and other brands in the collective.
    • The Test Lab — where today’s innovations are crafted and refined so they can be passed down to future generations.
    • The iconic Mainsite Manufacturing Facility — designed by George Nelson and A. Quincy Jones
  • Round-trip charter bus from Cranbrook Art Museum (luxury vehicle with restroom)
  • Lunch and snacks provided

Led by MillerKnoll Director of Archives and Brand Heritage Amy Auscherman, Senior Archivist Alexa Hagen, and Collections Manager Sarah Wood, you’ll trace the story of how visionary designers revolutionized interiors, blending craft and industry to shape the way we live today.

This is a rare opportunity to see the new MillerKnoll Archives and the inaugural exhibition Manufacturing Modern. MillerKnoll’s origins trace back to the early 20th-century Modernist movement, which championed purposeful, innovative, and accessible design. Visionaries like Florence Knoll, George Nelson, Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, Harry Bertoia, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and Marcel Breuer were deeply influenced by institutions such as the Bauhaus, Cranbrook Academy of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art. Their groundbreaking philosophies shaped Knoll and Herman Miller’s approach, blending craft with industry to redefine interiors and revolutionize furniture production.

The private tour of  MillerKnoll’s Main Site manufacturing facility will give guests an inside look at the manufacturing processes behind the designs.

Participants on the tour will meet for coffee and pastries at the Art Museum before boarding a luxury shuttle (with onboard restroom). A gourmet lunch and afternoon refreshments are included (menu selections provided in advance of travel). Bridget Bartal, MillerKnoll Curatorial Fellow at Cranbrook Art Museum, will discuss her research for the exhibition Eventually Everything Connects: Mid-Century Modern Design in the US during the journey to Zeeland.
