DESCRIPTION:Join leading curators Andrew Satake Blauvelt (Director\, Cranbr
 ook Art Museum)\, Katherine White (Curator of Design\, The Henry Ford)\, a
 nd Shelley Selim (Mort Harris Curator of Automotive\, Industrial\, and Dec
 orative Design\, Detroit Institute of Arts) for a lively conversation expl
 oring how different types of institutions—contemporary art museums\, his
 tory museums\, and encyclopedic museums—approach collecting design. Each
  curator will highlight recent acquisitions and share insights into the ev
 olving priorities shaping their collections.\nIn anticipation of Eventuall
 y Everything Connects: Mid-Century Modern Design in the US\, Cranbrook Art
  Museum expanded its permanent collection with nearly 50 new works of mid-
 century furniture\, lighting\, textiles\, and product design. These acquis
 itions focus on designers who have been historically underrepresented in m
 useum collections\, including Bill Lam\, Evelyn Ackerman\, Olga Lee\, and 
 Miller Yee Fong.\nThis is the final public program for the exhibition\, wh
 ich closes Sunday\, September 21\, 2025. Attending this program is free wi
 th museum admission.
