Join us for a live, musical performance by Rachel Albee (MFA Sculpture 2026) to celebrate the 2026 Graduate Degree Exhibition of Cranbrook Academy of Art.
In Tool to Transcend, Albee explores breath as a dialogue, calling out to other realms of existence. Two performers join Albee to enliven the delicate instrument, producing overlapping notes through the repeated expulsion of their full lung capacities. The three resulting tones fluctuate between harmony and dissonance to stimulate an out-of-body experience. Vulnerability is inherent in this performance: the vulnerability of sharing breath, the vulnerability of proximity, and the vulnerability of holding on to impermanence.
This intimate, one-time-only performance will take place promptly at 6:45 pm and last about 10 minutes. It is free with museum admission.
