 lecture in the 2024-25 Cranbrook Academy of Art Lecture Series. Charisse W
 eston is a conceptual artist and writer whose work contends with the dynam
 ic interplay of violence and intimacy through repetition\, enfoldment\, an
 d concealment.\n\nCranbrook Academy of Art’s 2024-25 Public Lecture Seri

 e early to explore our current exhibitions.\n\nWeston is an alumna of Whit
 ney Museum of American Art’s Independent Study Program. Weston was named
  a Studio Museum Harlem 2022–23 Artist in Residence\, a 2023 Jerome Hill
  Fellow\, and a 2023 Hodder Fellow at the Lewis Center for the Arts at Pri
 nceton University\, Princeton\, NJ for the 2023–24 academic year. She ha
 s exhibited in groups at notable venues such as the Contemporary Art Museu
 m\, Houston (2020)\, Jack Shainman Gallery (2022\, 2023)\, Hessel Museum o
 f Art at Bard College (2022)\, and MoMA PS1 (2023). She has mounted solo e
 xhibitions at Project Row Houses (2014\, 2015)\, Recess (2021)\, the Moody
  Center of the Arts at Rice University (2021)\, the Queens Museum (2022)\,
  and MOMA PS1 (2023). She also participated in the Whitney Biennial 2024: 
 Even Better Than the Real Thing curated by Meg Onli and Chrissie Iles at t
 he Whitney Museum of American Art. She has received awards and fellowships
  from Artadia Fund for the Arts\, the Dallas Museum of Art\, the Dedalus F
 oundation\, the Harpo Foundation\, the Graham Foundation\, the Corning Mus
 eum of Glass\, among others. She was a 2021 Artist Fellow at the Museum of
  Art and Design\, where she was also awarded the 2021 Burke Prize. She was
  a Paul and Irene Hollister Fields of the Future Fellow at Bard Graduate i
 n 2022. Her hybrid manuscript Awaiting was published by Ugly Duckling Pres
 s in March 2023.
