Join us for a live performance by Ruiqi Liu (MFA Ceramics 2026) to celebrate the 2026 Graduate Degree Exhibition of Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Solidification in Between appears under conditions of darkness. Each evening, as the gallery lights are turned off, the work activates on its own. For most of its duration, it exists without being seen.

A single, scheduled performance marks a moment in which this ongoing condition is made visible to an audience. What is perceived during that time represents only a small fraction of an otherwise continuous process.

The work engages with transformations such as solidification and transition—processes that unfold regardless of observation. Like many events in the world, they occur largely outside of human attention. Visibility here is not guaranteed, but incidental.

This intimate, one-time-only performance will take place at 6:30 pm and last about 15 minutes. It is free with museum admission.
