The Cranbrook Academy of Art Violin Ensemble (which may or may not include violins) presents a concert of experimental music. This performance marks the culmination of the “Music for Artists” course, offered through the Program in Critical Studies at Cranbrook Academy of Art.
This performance is centered around the exploration of sound as an artistic medium and the idea of the musical score as a visual artifact. In it, compositions by Pauline Oliveros and Gavin Bryars will be performed as well as newly composed works inspired by the Fluxus movement, meditative listening, chance operations, and multimedia scoremaking practices. Audience participation may be requested. Free and open to all!
