Special Screening of “The Truth Is I Hear You” A Project by the Cause Collective
Cranbrook Art Museum is proud to participate in the nationwide art project For Freedoms, the largest creative collaboration in US history leading up to the 2018 midterms. The museum will present a special screening of The Cause Collective’s “The Truth Is I Hear You” (42 minutes) commissioned by Cranbrook Art Museum featuring Michigan residents sharing their “truths”. The film was created inside The Truth Booth—a portable, inflatable video recording studio—that toured eleven locations in Metro Detroit and Flint, Michigan, in the summer of 2016.
About For Freedoms:
For Freedoms believes citizenship is defined by participation, not by ideology. For Freedoms believes art can be a vehicle that broadens participation and deepens public discussions of civic issues and core values. For Freedoms is a hub for other artists and arts institutions who want to be more engaged in public life. Founded by Hank Willis Thomas and Eric Gottesman, For Freedoms Federation encourages new forms of critical discourse. Our mission is to use art as a vehicle to build greater participation in American Democracy. https://forfreedoms.org/
