Join us for Splice: Film and Collage, a series of in-gallery performances in response to artworks in the exhibition Mythic Chaos: 50 Years of Destroy All Monsters.
Renee Willoughby is an interdisciplinary artist working individually and collaboratively in Detroit, exploring themes of collage, ghosts, and telematics. Her live video practice involves collaging images and objects into a creative feedback loop, transforming ordinary bits and pieces into the unknown, or “other.”
The members of the collective Destroy All Monsters have referred to their performances as “Distorted Psychedelic Chaotic High Energy Level Music.” Like their live performances, the collages they co-created were layered critiques of society, using imagery from films, comic books, magazines, and other pop cultural sources.
Splice: Film and Collage invites contemporary performance artists working in layered time-based media to produce new work.
