Please join us for a special curated tour and discussion of the 2025 Graduate Degree Exhibition of Cranbrook Academy of Art organized by Savannah Faith Jackson (CAA MFA Fiber ‘25).
The Loveseat is a sculpture consisting of a secondhand couch totally appliqued with box braids. The piece explores the complexities of Black women’s labor while meditating on ideas such as the tension between invisibility and hypervisibility, and reflections on ancestral knowledge. During this event, The Loveseat is activated as a public forum showcasing the musings, concerns, and interests of several emerging Black women artists from across the diaspora.
Beginning with a short tour of the exhibition featuring artists Stina Baudin, Myiesha Gordon Beales, Benita Nnachortam, Chiedza Pasipanodya, and Kesiena Wanogho, followed by a discussion led by Savannah Faith Jackson taking place at The Loveseat.
