DESCRIPTION:Subjective Uncertainty And the Will to Render Messiness\nAdrian
  Wong will reflect on the operations of several recent and historical proj
 ects\, in relation to their strategies for generating new meanings from ex
 isting bodies of knowledge—with a focus on his collaborative engagements
  from 2010-2021. At a time in history when reason and facts are in marked 
 decline\, this talk attempts to reconcile the cognitive dissonance produce
 d by the instinct to knee-jerk into a defense of scientific consensus and 
 a commitment to the spaces outside of empirical inquiry.\n\nWong was born 
 and raised in Chicago\, Illinois in 1980. Originally trained in developmen
 tal psychology (MA\, Stanford ‘03)\, he pursued his post-graduate studie
 s in sculpture (MFA\, Yale ‘05). He maintained a studio in Hong Kong fro
 m 2005 until 2018\, when he accepted his current position as Associate Pro
 fessor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work has been ex
 hibited at The Drawing Center (New York)\, Kuandu Museum (Taipei)\, Kunsth
 alle Wien\, Kunstverein (Hamburg)\, Palazzo Reale (Milan)\, Saatchi Galler
 y (London)\, and Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art (Rotterdam)—a
 nd can be found in public and private collections worldwide.\n\nSponsored
