 u’re invited to join Cranbrook Art Museum and Cranbrook Institute of Sci
 ence on Saturday\, December 20\, from 11am to 5pm for our annual Winter So
 lstice Celebration—enjoy two incredible experiences for the price of one
 ! The solstice marks the official beginning of Winter. Traditionally\, thi
 s was a time of celebration and renewal – marking a gradual but steady r
 eturn of the light.  \n\nOne ticket\, two locations\, endless discovery. 
 A short\, scenic walk links both institutions\, letting you experience sci
 ence\, art\, and nature in one magical winter day.\n\nTickets are $15 for 
 Members (CAM or CIS) and $20 for non-members. Pre-registration is encourag
 ed and closes Friday\, December 19\, at 3pm.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAt Cranbrook Ar
 t Museum: Our celebration will be a modern twist on traditional Scandinavi
 an practices\, featuring art projects that celebrate the longest and darke
 st night of the year by bringing light and joy.  \n\n 	Join us in deSalle
  Auditorium to make your own Winter (Monster) Wonderland puppet show! Crea
 te a puppet and take turns presenting your own show on the big screen of t
 he theater. Featuring artists Renee Willoughby and Monty Etzcorn\, co-foun
 ders of Monster Parade\, along with Steve Baka. Monster Parade is an inclu
 sive folk costume and puppetry spectacle celebrating all things silly and 
 strange through the lens of community and artmaking! Puppetry materials pr
 esented in partnership with Arts and Scraps. Special performances at 11:30
 am\, Noon\, and 3pm. Puppet making and visitor shows\, ongoing in deSalle 
 Auditorium.\n 	In the galleries\, enjoy traditional and contemporary Swedi
 sh compositions by Swedish Folk (including Julia Kander\, CAA MFA Fiber 
 ‘26) for periodic performances throughout the afternoon while you view H
 aas Brothers: Uncanny Valley. Performances at Noon\, 1pm\, and 2pm in Hart
 mann Gallery.\n 	Swedish Folk is a musical ensemble specializing in tradit
 ional dance tunes from Sweden and the other Scandinavian countries.  Base
 d in the Chicago area\, they regularly perform for various events hosted b
 y Scandinavian cultural organizations. Swedish Folk is also the musical ac
 companiment for the Swedish American Children's Choir and has joined them 
 on multiple tours to the Twin Cities. Ongoing\n 	In the Art Lab\, send goo
 d tidings for the season by creating your own Scandinavian-inspired greeti
 ng card! Ongoing\n 	At FIKA Cafe\, you’ll find treats inspired by Scandi
 navian holiday specialties\, gummy candies from Sweden\, artisanal flavore
 d hot chocolate\, and coffee favorites. A cash bar will be on the lower le
 vel featuring beer\, wine\, and a fragrant spiced Glögg! Ongoing\n 	Need 
 last-minute gifts? In Forum Gallery\, Cranbrook Academy of Art students wi
 ll host a special winter sale. At the Cranbrook Art Museum shop\, ArtMembe
 rs enjoy a double discount (30%!) on all purchases! Ongoing  \n\nAt Cranb
 rook Institute of Science: Enjoy multiple winter-themed making and explora
 tion stations!\n\n 	Lantern-Making Workshop: Create your own glowing lante
 rn for the evening’s parade. Ongoing\n 	Yule Log Display: Add to our Yul
 e Log display\, symbolizing our connection to nature and community during 
 dark times. Ongoing\n 	Suncatcher Station: Design a suncatcher to capture 
 the returning rays of the sun. Ongoing\n 	Seasonal Spice Blends: Gather ar
 omatic spices to bring warmth to your home. Ongoing\n 	Build a Winter Feed
 er: Help critters survive winter and prepare for spring. Ongoing\n 	Paper 
 Wheel Ornaments: Craft ornaments representing the cycle of the seasons. On
 going\n 	Solstice Storytime: Settle in to hear Winter Solstice stories. On
 going\n 	Decorate a Solstice Keepsake Bag: Design a paper bag to hold all 
 your Winter Solstice treasures. Ongoing\n 	Live Music by the Roaring Wastr
 els: Enjoy medieval carols and wassails performed by costumed musicians. O
 ngoing\n 	Family Photo Op: Strike a pose! Our professional photographer wi
 ll be on-site. Snap a fun family pic that’s totally grandma-approved. On
 going\n 	Seasonal snacks and treats will be available for purchase at the 
 Reflections Café. Ongoing\n 	Sunset Lantern Parade: The sun sets at 4:45
  pm\, grab your lantern and join our parade—let’s fill the night wit
 h light and joy to close out the celebration! Walk at 4:45pm - meet at the
  Institute of Science west entrance. \n
