Focus on Education
Since 2004, Cranbrook Art Museum’s educational activities have focused on outreach to neighboring communities including partnerships with Cranbrook Institute of Science on its innovative Art and Science on the Go, which introduced art into STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) subjects in cross-disciplinary learning programs to students in Northern Michigan. The Art Museum has also offered courses that combine art and science for visiting school groups from nearby Pontiac, Flint, and Detroit public school districts. CAM offers intensive art, architecture, and design educational workshops utilizing the talents of Academy of Art students and recent graduates to teach elementary and middle school students through its popular summer Create Camps.
