Registrar

Cranbrook Art Museum is seeking a Registrar to join our team. A key member of the staff, the Registrar leads the professional care, movement, management, and documentation of artworks in the museum’s collections and temporary exhibitions.

Cranbrook Art Museum presents dynamic and award-winning temporary exhibitions and permanent collection displays focused on modern and contemporary art, design, and craft. In addition, the museum boasts a beautiful, state-of-the-art collections storage and art handling facility that is open to the public via guided tours. The museum’s collections include some 7,500 works of art, all stored onsite, across a variety of media. The Registrar works regularly with the curatorial team, exhibition preparators, and education staff. The Registrar also works closely with colleagues at the Center for Collections and Research, which houses the campus archives as well as maintains Cranbrook’s historic homes, cultural properties, and outdoor sculptures, and the Cranbrook Institute of Science, a natural history museum.

Situated on 319+ bucolic acres, the Cranbrook campus is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Cranbrook is a short distance to downtown Detroit, which boasts a diverse, lively, and engaging art and cultural scene with which the museum often engages.

Cranbrook offers competitive compensation and benefits that include medical, dental, life insurance, long-term and short-term disability, and retirement programs with employer contribution. We also offer generous paid time off, 11 paid holidays and 3 floating holidays, employee discounts, and a unique environment in an educational setting that values collaboration.
