To assist us in booking your visit, please complete the online registration completely and accurately. It is especially helpful to include multiple dates and times, because your first choice may not be available.

When you submit the online visit request form, your arrangements are not finalized until you have received a confirmation via email. This will include details about payment, arrival, and parking.

PAYMENT: You may pay on the day of your visit or in advance by credit card over the phone (preferred). We accept cash, check, or credit card.

Museum Visits
Workshops (1-2 Hours)
- Show available workshops
A Teaching Artist will lead groups in a dialogue-based vault tour and an interactive studio workshop experience. This can run from an hour and a half to two hours, and is recommended for groups under 40 people (will be split into two groups).Workshops are $15 per person.

- POP TO PRINT
  Explore silkscreen in the works of Andy Warhol and other Pop artists in the museum’s collection. Learn about printing, production, and the influence of pop culture while creating your own colorful silkscreen prints!
- CHAIR CHALLENGE
  Learn from iconic Mid-century masters, with chairs designed by Charles Eames, Ralph Rapson, and Eero Saarinen. Explore modern design concepts, the importance of form + function, and create your own chair prototype!
- DESIGNING ELECTRICITY
  Discuss electricity and concepts of design with the help of visual aids from the museum collection. Students will then tackle individual and group design challenges to create their own working lamp prototypes.
- MODULAR DESIGN
  Explore contemporary artists’ use of modular design in artworks which modify the human body. Looking to artists such as Nick Cave, students will create their own body extensions to enhance and hide, using repetitive shapes and simple materials.
Tours (45 Minutes)
- Show available tours
Groups are guided by a Museum Educator through a dialogue-based tour focusing on current exhibitions at CAM, or our open-viewing collection storage. Each tour is available for a maximum of 40 people (will be split into two groups).

- Vault Tour
  Groups are given access to the Cranbrook Art Museum vaults to see where art is stored when it is not on display. Educators will introduce the idea of collecting, and engage discussions about various objects from behind the scenes at the museum. This program allows groups to take a closer look at ceramics, painting, furniture, and textiles.
- Gallery Tour
  Tour our current exhibitions. Museum educators lead tours and facilitate open-ended discussions, focusing on specific aspects of the current exhibitions. Students will encounter original works of art that complement and enhance classroom learning. If there is an exhibition you would like to learn more about, please let us know in advance.

Visits are scheduled based on availability. Group programs must be scheduled in advance. Summer visits are scheduled Tuesday - Thursday from 11am - 5pm, special accommodations may be made for earlier start times for school groups. Please enter a date, and preferred arrival time. (This time does not include transportation). All requests need to be made at least 3 weeks in advance.
