Cranbrook Art Museum is proud to partner with the City of Detroit’s Office of Arts, Culture and Entrepreneurship, the TCF Convention Center, and the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy to present the “The Healing Memorial” installation, a large-scale public art installation to recognize all forms of loss that have occurred throughout the COVID-9 pandemic. The project is led by artist and Cranbrook Academy of Art alumna Sonya Clark and curated by Laura Mott, Senior Curator of Contemporary Art and Design at Cranbrook Art Museum. It will launch on Saturday, June 19, at a Juneteenth Celebration on the Dequindre Cut in Detroit from 2–6pm (near the Lafayette and St Aubin entrance). Visitors can create colorful, hand-made personal dedications out of fabric that will come together to form a dramatic installation at the Huntington Center in downtown Detroit.
