Description
Lushly produced with nearly 500 color, black-and-white, and duotone images, With Eyes Opened, is an indispensable document of this remarkable institution. With contributions by more than 40 curators, critics, and historians, it features an illustrated chronology of the Academy drawn from the archives with short stories of key moments and colorful episodes in the school’s history.
Lavishly printed in a limited edition of 1,000 copies and beautifully designed by Lorraine Wild (BFA Design, 1975) and Xiaoqing Wang of Green Dragon Office, Los Angeles. Edited and produced by Andrew Blauvelt (MFA Design, 1988). This book complements an even more expansive landmark exhibition of the same title curated by Andrew Blauvelt, Kathryn Goffnett, and Ian Gabriel Wilson that debuts at Cranbrook Art Museum in June 2021.
This book is dedicated to Julia “Julie” Reyes Taubman (1967–2017), a longtime member of the Cranbrook Academy of Art and Art Museum Board of Governors.
