Richards—a potter, poet and essayist who taught at the Black Mountain College in the 1940s. Ruhwald’s show, “This Is the Living Vessel: Person. This Is What Matters. This Is Our Universe,” seeks to show work that embodies some of the concepts outlined by Richards in this text, ideas about the latent capacity for creativity in all humans, and our common experience as unlocked by certain art forms. Knight Foundation, as part of its Detroit Knight Arts Challenge. Cranbrook Art Museum was awarded a $60,000 matching grant to create a Detroit tour of the public art installation In Search of the Truth (The Truth Booth). The ambitious public program will also result in a new presentation at the Museum in the fall of 2016. The Truth Booth is a portable, inflatable video recording studio in the shape of a giant speech bubble.
